After sailing the seas and performing internationally, Lisa Woodbrook is back on Perth shores with a brand-new show “Heartfelt” and new single “I’m Done”. Woodbrook, who is a Fringe World Perth Festival favourite and has performed in hit musicals “We Will Rock You”, “The Boy from Oz” and “50 Shades! The Musical Parody” is thrilled to be sharing her brand-new show, “Heartfelt” with Perth audiences. “Heartfelt”, which is playing at Lyrics Underground in Maylands for one night only on Thursday, July 13 features a combination of top 40 hits by the likes of Adele, Alicia Keys, Lizzo, and her own original songs, including her brand new single, “I’m Done” which drops on June 30.
“Heartfelt” is a more intimate approach from Woodbrook’s award-winning shows, “It’s Not Me It’s Definitely You: Songs of Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen” and “Feeling Way Too Good: The Songs of Michael Bublé”. As the title suggests, this production is more “heartfelt” and features original songs Woodbrook has penned about her own heartaches, triumphs and experiences.
“I’m so excited to share a brand-new show with Perth audiences, and to incorporate both my original music and favourite tracks,” says Woodbrook. “I’ve loved performing Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen and Michael Bublé’s music but as an artist there’s always the constant need to evolve and keep creating, so it’s exciting to create a show celebrating songs that really resonate with me as an artist. Heartfelt includes tracks that I’ve had on repeat for the past few years like Lizzo’s “About Damn Time”, Adele’s “Water Under the Bridge” and Taylor Swift’s “Anti-Hero” but it’s also exciting to share my own original music too. There’ll be the pop anthems like “Love > Lessons” but then the powerful ballad moments like “So Bad” and my new single “I’m Done.”
“Heartfelt” will mark the first time Woodbrook will perform her original music live. Woodbrook wrote both the music and lyrics to ‘I’m Done’, with the track produced by Sydney duo Cressbrook, the power-ballad drops on streaming platforms on June 30. “It’s about walking away from something that doesn’t serve you with a sense of clarity and confidence saying, “You know what I’m done and I’m moving on”. There’s a real strength to this song, it’s so relatable, tugs at the heartstrings and it’s also very empowering.” “Having that moment of “this isn’t for me and I’m not going to allow anyone to make me feel like this” is so liberating. I hope people see this as a heartfelt celebration of letting go.”
Woodbrook hopes the ballad and show will empower audiences. “I’m looking forward to sharing some of my favourite music and creating a really intimate experience, artist to audience, and for those that have gone through similar sentiments to feel heard, to feel seen and to let it all out and dance. As they say laughter is the best medicine, and for me it’s laughter, singing and getting your dance on.”
Since performing at Fringe World Perth earlier this year, Woodbrook has spent most of her time out at sea performing on Princess, Celebrity, Viking and Seabourn cruise ships to crowds of thousands in exotic locations like Fiji, Hawaii, Singapore and Dubai, but for the Perth-born and raised singer, there’s still no place like home. “Performing to thousands on the ocean is incredible and is a real pinch me moment, but still there’s nothing quite like performing to a crowd on home soil. I love intimate gigs, it’s an opportunity to really connect with the audience, to engage on a more personal level and to be that little more heartfelt.”
